Situated on chalk rich slopes, this vineyard is situated in one of the `grosses gewachs`, which roughly equates to a grand cru. Low yielding old vines produce a dry opulent wine with silky peach perfumed fruit and excellent acidity. Delicate elderflower flavours with ripe pear lead to a crisp limey palate. During winemaking, the wine is left on the lees to give it greater complexity and a fuller bodied character.

The Ruppertsberg Cooperative is one of the most dynamic in Germany. In the 1980s the growers completely rebuilt their wine cellars and have continuously invested in new equipment. The loam and sandstone soils from around Ruppertsberg and up to just above Bad Durkheim are some of the best in the Rhine valley. Great emphasis is put on individual vineyards using cover crops rather than herbicides and harvesting at optimal ripeness in each plot.
